Software takes the phone taps on typing
Back in the 1990s, typing "hello" on most phones phones required evacuation valves 13 numeric keys, as follows: 44-33-555-555-666.

There is now a new challenge to typing on phones. More telephones are virtual keyboards on a touch screen replacing the hardware buttons. But pecking message on a small piece of glass is not so easy, and typing errors are common.
Mr. Kushler think he has a solution once again. His new technology, it developed with a fellow researcher, Randy Marsden, Swype is called, and it allows users to drag a finger across the keyboard to spell words, rather that tapping each letter.
Although many smartphones have features that the words AutoComplete, correct typos on the fly and add punctuation, Mr. Kushler aims for the next level.
"We have urged the computer, with keyboard and mouse, into something that fits in your pocket. The bandwidth of information has become very tight, he said. "I thought that if we can find a better way to capture this information, it could be something that could really take off. "
Mr. Kushler said Swype is a breakthrough which could reach billions of people. This is not as ambitious as it sounds. To date, the T9 technology was built in more than four billion devices worldwide. In 1999, its creators sold it to AOL for a reported $ 350 million, It is now owned by the company Nuance speech recognition.
Swype software detects whether a finger stops and changes direction as marks on the model of a word. The movements must not be more accurate because the software calculates that the words a user is most likely to try specify.

Capitalization and double letters can be shown with a break or scribbles, while the spacing and punctuation are automatic. Kushler M., who is director of technology Swype, says the software can further improve the rate of Agile Messenger text 20-30 percent.
Swype is now used in smartphones in seven U.S. in all major wireless carriers, including HTC and Samsung Omnia HD2 II. At the end of the year, the company says its software will more than 50 models in the world.
It was not an agreement with Apple, the king of the touchscreen phones, but it is tinkering with software for the iPhone and IPAD and hopes to show it to Apple soon.
